We call our small groups Life Groups. Life Groups include every aspect of Christian living and community Jesus taught and demonstrated to His disciples, the first Life Group. An apple tree will only produce fruit if placed with other apple trees; they must have the cross pollination that comes from being with other trees. Believers must have the love, support, and interaction that come from being with other believers. In order to grow in Christ and produce the fruit God desires in us, we need to learn to live together in the kind of community that will come as we grow in Christ together in Life Groups.
Life Groups meet weekly from September through May and meet occasionally for fellowship during the summer. Beginning in September each group focuses on the same topic, using the same material for approximately 10 weeks. This creates a wonderful opportunity for church unity. For the remainder of the year, each Life Group selects its own topic of study.
We invite you to become involved in this small group (8-12 people) atmosphere for study of God’s word, worship, ministry, outreach and fellowship. If you would like to participate or have any questions please contact the church office at (804) 730-9512.
In Life Groups, we are doing life together, by living according to God’s Word, growing in Christ and enjoying Him and one another.
Our Current Life Groups include (some groups are not meeting due to the pandemic, this list will be updated as groups start meeting again):

Our Current Sunday School classes include:
- Cross BearersClass: Cross BearersTeacher(s): Bill CumbyTopic of Study: New Testament book of JohnFor Ages: AdultsMeets: Weekly on Sunday at 9:15 amLocation: Cross Bearers classroom
The Cross Bearers will be studying the Book of Colossians for the next several weeks. Here is a short synopsis of the study:
While Paul is in prison he is visited by several followers of churches they have started from his ministries. Colossians is one of the four “prison epistles” that Paul sends to those believers who have already placed their faith in Jesus Christ. Paul states that Jesus is the center of our faith and that is why we are called Christians or followers of Christ. Some of the questions Paul shares are: What is our Savior like?; Who exactly is He?; What is His relationship with and plan for us?
The Book of Colossians looks at these questions carefully. Jesus is the central figure in the book. As we study it, we will develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Jesus. We will also see some of the issues Paul was trying to help the new Christians deal with in their faith with other religions and even the hold of the old Jewish traditions on their lives. He also addresses how to beware of false teachers. All of these same issues we Christians face today.
Come join our class as we learn together the truths of God’s Word. We start at 9:15am every Sunday and will have coffee and a breakfast treat to share.
- FriendshipClass: FriendshipTeacher(s): Jim TrustyTopic of Study: Spiritual WarfareFor Ages: AdultsMeets: Weekly on Sunday at 9:15 amLocation: Friendship classroom
The Friendship Sunday school class is currently studying a series entitled “Spiritual Warfare” by Tony Evans. This is a comprehensive study of the fact that we are not in a battle against flesh and blood but “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12). These recordings generate discussion related to all aspects of this war including it’s origin, nature, scope, and Christ’s victory through His life, death, resurrection, and ascension. By putting on the full armor of God we can stand firm and victorious, as individuals, families, churches, and communities.
Everyone is welcome to come and join our class.
- SeekersClass: SeekersTeacher(s): David Householder and Susan HaynesTopic of Study: Entire BibleFor Ages: AdultsMeets: Weekly on Sunday at 9:15 amLocation: Seekers classroom
Come join the Seekers Adult Sunday school Class as they use Wesley Sunday School literature to study the entire Bible.
Women’s Fellowship Opportunities
Activities designed just for women provide opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and bonding with your sisters in Christ.
Women in the Vine – is our women’s ministry deriving its name from John 15:5. Our mission is to establish our value through a personal relationship with God; to use His Word to inspire us to walk out His plan for our lives; to help nurture our God given desires, hopes and dreams through fellowship; and to encourage outreach in every direction. We meet monthly and always have a good time together. Whether we are listening to a speaker, going out to dinner, or painting ceramic tiles at a pottery studio, there is always lots of love and laughter to go around.
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me bears much fruit.
However, apart from Me you can do nothing.
However, apart from Me you can do nothing.
